Admissions Requirements

Each NYU School of Medicine applicant must have completed

  • NYU SOM requires completion of undergraduate study and a baccalaureate degree.
  • Applicants must have attended an accredited college or university; courses taken outside approved colleges of liberal arts will not be credited toward admission requirements.
  • All conditionally accepted applicants and alternate-listed applicants will be required to consent to, submit to, and successfully pass a criminal background check through the AMCAS-facilitated criminal background check vendor certiphi screening  , Inc., as a condition of matriculation to the NYU School of Medicine.
  • All accepted applicants must possess physical and mental skills and abilities to successfully complete the NYU School of Medicine curriculum as listed in our technical standards  

Tuition and Fees


Registered students are assessed tuition and fees based on a variety of factors. The following criteria are used to determine the amount of tuition a student is assessed each semester:
  • School or College within New York University
  • Program
  • Credit Hours Enrolled
The BMI MS tuition cost is set according to the scale of the GSAS. GSAS charges tuition on a per-point basis. Students must obtain a minimum of 32 points for the master's degree. A full-time course load is typically 12 points per semester for master programs.

The office of the bursars  is the central billing and collection point for New York University. The department is responsible for managing the university billing, collecting, refunding and cashiering functions.
 NYU School of Medicine is leading a medical school consortium to identify and share best practices for the development of accelerated pathways to obtain a medical degree (MD). The consortium will serve as an incubator that promotes necessary peer interaction to help ensure a more systematic approach to accelerated programs nationwide.
